Kate Fletcher
Counsellor
Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy
Kate has completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling at Edinburgh University, training in the person-centred and psychodynamic perspectives. Before that she trained in loss and bereavement counselling with Cruse Bereavement Care Scotland. Kate moved into generic counselling practice two years ago, working in a GP surgery, and currently works with young people at a counselling agency for 12 -21 year olds.
In her experience there are always times in life when we need a safe place to look at ourselves more deeply and reflect on our experiences from the past and in the present, and be able to make sense of them, in order to make changes and live our lives more fully. Kate feels that everyone deserves this space in their life.
"For me, the counselling relationship is the most important part of what makes counselling work and I feel my openness to bringing myself into the counselling relationship is a big part of what I do. As well as this, I offer a warm and safe environment to be heard and accepted. I also work with bringing attention to the body, to help focus on emotions and reflect what is going on in the present.
