Chinese Tuina Massage
Tuina or tui-na (‘twee-nah’) massage is widely regarded as the oldest system of bodywork. One of the four main branches of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) along with acupuncture, qigong, and Chinese herbology, the practice of tuina is based on the theory that imbalances of qi (‘chi’, the body’s vital life force or energy), can cause blockages or imbalances that lead to symptoms of pain and illness. Similar to acupuncture, Chinese Tuina massage targets specific acupoints, using fingers instead of needles.
