Sports massage uses a combination of deep tissue techniques, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, stretching, and soft tissue release to bring relief from exercise or prepare muscular tissue for activity. It is an excellent therapy for athletes at recreational or competitive level, as well as for individuals experiencing stress.

  • In your initial consultation, your therapist will discuss your individual needs in order to create a bespoke massage. Appointments can be 60 or 90 minutes.

  • We recommend that you wear loose, comfortable clothing which will be easy to change in and out of. Post-treatment, we recommend that you permit rest; a feeling of drowsiness and deep relaxation is common. Drink plenty of water to aid the body in flushing out toxins released during treatment. Hydration will also help reduce the likelihood of aches, pains or headaches post-massage. It is not advisable to follow deep tissue massage with weight training due to potential aggravation to tissue remodelling and healing stimulated by deep tissue treatment.

  • For the committed sportsperson, we recommend an individualised programme of treatments as part of pre-event training and post-event relief. This helps prepare the body for activity, and in turn helps speed up recovery time.
